How does the Institute deal with news reports?
The critical clarification undertaken by the Institute of Islamic Studies of the German Evangelical Alliance takes Islam as its subject and is not directed against any individual Muslims, who we consider our partners in conversation, our friends, and our fellow human beings loved by God.
We transmit news reports that come, above all, from Muslim (Arabic and Turkish) Internet sites and, thus, have been written by Muslims themselves.
Even if some news reports from Islamic countries might not please the reader, we request that objectivity be maintained and that a distinction be made between the doctrine and the human being who follows this teaching.
Respect and goodwill toward fellow human beings, however, does not exclude dealing critically with subjects such as the politics, law, or religion of Islam and drawing comparisons with the Christian faith.
Respecting the cultures of Muslim countries, taking over valuable complementary ideas and impulses from them, and being enriched by them, does not forbid the critical assessment of other aspects.
The judgement of the news reports is left to the reader. However, we would like to ask all the users of our site, in accord with our concerns, to refrain from demagogy and agitation.
